Education and Expertise
I obtained my doctoral degree in Counseling Psychology from Northwest University. Throughout my academic journey, I immersed myself in the emerging research on spiritual abuse and religious trauma, contributing the only peer-reviewed measure of spiritual abuse (as of 2023). I endeavor to stay at the forefront of the latest developments in the field, allowing me to provide evidence-based insights and therapeutic approaches to my clients.
Professional Experience
Serving internships at Pacific Behavioral Healthcare in Bellevue, WA, and Affordable Counseling in Edmonds, WA, I was fortunate to see clients across multiple spectrums: age, abilities, culture/ethnicity, presenting concern, socioeconomic status, and more. Through my private practice, I offer personalized counseling and therapy sessions, guiding individuals on their journeys of self-discovery and existential exploration. My therapeutic approach is rooted in empathy, compassion, and respect for each person's unique experiences and perspectives
Areas of Focus
I work from a cognitive-existential framework, utilizing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and related techniques to treat anxiety, depression, and healing from traumatic experiences. I am very comfortable addressing existential concerns such as the search for meaning and purpose, the fear of mortality, identity exploration, and the existential challenges arising from major life transitions. Both my research on spiritual abuse and years of experience in both Evangelical and Post-Evangelical Christian communities, paired with training in Cognitive Processing Therapy, an evidence-based trauma intervention, make me a good fit for those dealing with religious issues of any kind. I recognize that religious experiences can profoundly shape our identities and worldviews. However, when religious practices become abusive or traumatic, they can leave individuals feeling shattered, confused, and burdened by emotional scars. With sensitivity and compassion, I offer specialized support for those who have experienced spiritual abuse or are seeking to heal from religious trauma.
